I have decided to analyse this students thriller opening as I feel that they created a very suspenseful opening leaving the audience with plenty of questions in then storyline not giving a lot away. The music and props are very well thought out to make the audience feel very tense throughout with various different questions.
The scene starts of with a close up of a person's hand tied with rope and blood all down the persons arm. This instantly makes the audience feel tense as they want to know who the person is and why they have been tied up. In the right hand side of the screen they have added the name of the production companies in a flash effect to make it look creepy and make the audience feel on edge as they watch it as the hand starts to move. A high angle is then used to show a persons feet on the ground sitting on a chair with blood dripping down to the floor with a huge puddle beneath the person. This is significant and well thought out as the audience still don't know who the person is making it tense and suspenseful. A mid shot is then used to show the persons face with blood coming out of his mouth. As well as this the non diegetic music starts to increase in volume to let the audience know what the person looks like but they still have questions as to what happened to the boy. A black screen is then used to create a tense atmosphere before cutting to a zoom of a camera to suggest to the audience that someone is watching the boy and what is happening to him. A cut is then shown from the camera to a long shot of the boy with blood everywhere. This suggests to the audience that something bad is going to happen as he is being watched. This is then reinforced by showing a four shot of the four different cameras showing every angle where the boy is to suggest that someone is watching him.
Close ups are then shown of the boys ear which is full of blood and as the boy moves the close up moves to show his face to show that he is confused having been knocked out and is now regaining consciousness. A mid shot is then shown of his face from the side with the continuing of the directors names in the corner of the screen. This is significant as it allows the audience to have a clear understanding of what is happening with the boy but also the screen play. I will look at doing this with my thriller opening as it looks very good and professional. Then the shot changes to a point of view shot to show that the boys vision is blurry to suggest to the audience that he is isolated and unaware of what has happened. The non diegetic music that is in the background is tense making the audience wonder what is going to happen next to the boy. The diegetic music comes to a climax as the boy spits out blood onto the puddle, making the audience wonder what the boy is going to do next and if he is really hurt internally and in need of medical treatment. A mid shot is then shown of the boys face with the non diegetic music at a climax as the audience start to realise that the boy is starting to fully regain consciousness and starts to panic about where he is and realises that he is tied up.

Quick cuts are used to show the boys hands tied and his feet trying to come free from the rope making him panic. This makes the audience panic with him as the audience start to have a feeling from the non diegetic music that someone is coming after him. An extreme close up is shown of the boys eyes to show them starting to close again. This suggests to the audience that he is very vulnerable as he is alone with nobody to help him. A behind the shoulder shot is then used to show the boy hearing a sound from the side of the shed that he is in the middle of. The non diegetic music once again is at a climax making the audience as tense as the boy to find out what is hiding from him. A mid shot is shown of the boy seeing the person who is walking towards him. This makes it suspenseful as the audience are unaware of what the boy is seeing making them feel tension. A point of view shot is then used from the side of the shed looking at the boy in a massive amount of pain. A side mid shot is then used to show the boy screaming "help" and a girl in the background who is seen to have hurt him. This makes the audience wonder why the girl hurt him and how it all happened. While he is screaming flashbacks are shown of him walking through the mud, walking with his camera while going backwards and forwards of him screaming for help. The non diegetic music is at a climax to make the audience feel the amount of confusion that he is feeling and pain. A doll is the shown of which he takes a picture of while he is doing this a person in a white dress the same as what was seen looking at him in the shed walks towards him. Then a high angle shot is used to show the boy looking into a puddle before being taken in the reflection by "the girl". This is suspenseful as the audience wonder why she is doing this and what he has done to deserve this. A mid shot is then shown of the boy screaming "help me" before a black screen is shown and the title of the film comes onto the screen in a crackling sound which is tense and suspenseful.
